Re: ATHENA II @ Lexington HS 3/2/19

ATHENA II is now less than two weeks away. We'd really like to see as many teams as possible sign up, especially those that couldn't make it to LIVMIT!

Speaking as someone who actually staffed this tournament, here’s my take: No tournament is perfect. Technology will have its issues, readers will be unexpectedly slow, buzzers will crap out. These things are inevitable. What makes a tournament successful is having the right kind of attitude work wit...

Re: New England Discussion '18-'19

There also seems to be a willingness to move the NH state circuit to pyramidal questions, which is a huge step in the right direction. This is good to hear. It will be great to have more teams playing pyramidal quizbowl as well as (potentially) more available tournaments given that this will primar...

New England Discussion '18-'19

Other circuits have made these so I figured we could get started as well. Use this thread to discuss New England players, teams, and tournaments for the 2018-2019 season.

Re: New England Discussion '17-'18

Sadly, despite his valiant efforts, Team Vincent's own predictions came true, and he did not prevail at PAWT. He did, however, neg 8 times in one round in playoffs. Perhaps he would benefit from the positive self-talk Nick suggested, and maybe he will redeem himself at LIIIMIT?

Re: Specific question discussion

As another example of a "college-level" answerline (according to Raynor, our moderator for that round), but in contrast to the Calvino tossup, I felt the tossup about "the death of Garcia Lorca" was well executed. Garcia Lorca is accessible at the high school level (more than Cal...
