Someday, everyone in the quiz bowl community will use Linux or OS X, and all questions will be written in an XML format with XSLT stylesheets for print and web output, and we will be living in a perfect world. Seriously, it'd be awesome. Someone needs to come up with QBML. QBML would be trivial. It...

Sorry for the delay, I've had a barrage of midterms, projects, and job interviews this week. Stats are available here: http://www-static.cc.gatech.edu/~nbendler/eft/eftgt_standings.html They're subject to move at some point, but I couldn't put them on the team website because that server's disk is s...

Next week would've been more ideal, circuit-wise. But our fall break is next weekend, which is bad staffing-wise. We even tried asking some HS teams to come, but apparently Walton's tournament is this weekend, so that didn't work out. I don't think having one at USF sapped anyone who was coming up h...

ANNOUNCEMENT: Early Fall Tournament at Georgia Tech (10/08)
This is the official announcment for Georgia Tech's hosting of the 2006 Early Fall Tournament. For details about the EFT itself, check out its thread . Please note that due to a home football game versus Maryland on the 7th, we are having the tournament on Sunday, October 8 . Also note that this is ...

While we're at it, my understanding is that Georgia Tech is planning on hosting its mirror on Sunday the 8th, due to a large sports event on the 7th. I assume Nick will post something about this at some point. I'd just like to confirm this. We have a home game versus Maryland on the 7th, so we will...

Man, not being able to fly anymore...I remember how outraged we were that our coaches/parents/ourselves weren't allowed to drive anywhere after November my senior year. (Luckily, we made it to Vanderbilt's ABC before that.) Luckily, the bus thing ended up not cramping out style too much - that sprin...

If you're going to do those, I'd go for the Judge-style handpads over the tube button ones. Back in the day in Alabama, most systems used the latter type of button and they broke all the time. These days, I generally recommend Judges, mostly because they are very durable and are their own case. (If ...

The reason you didn't hear about it in the past was because Wade has only recently started using e-mail...I remember us getting a physical letter from him two years ago that talked about how complicated e-mail was or something. I'm enthused by the response so far, and the prospect of a UGA team visiting Atlanta for the first time in awhile is interesting. Again, the move is being considered due to our home game against Maryland - there is just no way we can have an on-campus event that day. Hopefully it's an afternoon game...

Most college tournaments I've been too have been pretty good about the distinction....since this is the HS section I guess I was referring more to that. I don't remember hearing any CS at regionals in 2004 or 2005, though, if there was any there wasn't more than 1 or 2. (Obviously, there could have...

Nick Bendler at Georgia Tech has expressed interest in mirroring EFT on October 8th (I gather there's a football conflict on the 7th). I think he's waiting to hear back from other club members, but hopefully it'll work out for them to host a mirror. -Seth It probably should, though I'm not ready to...

Atlanta is central, and believe it or not, campus is infinitely easier to get around then it was 3 years ago. (They had this wonderful idea to actually put up signs in front of buildings! What a novel concept!) We would also have it in a different building. But there are still the other factors work...

Georgia (and other) folks: I'm in a bit of bind here, scheduling-wise. Apparently most of the metro area teams have spring break on the 1st. Easter is April 16th. Because of the break, this effecitvely takes the beginning of the break and the end of the break out of play, since I'd guess most people...

The Worksheet (Can be good if it tests a relatively wide area of knowledge, but more often than not they are themed on the writer's pet interest, resulting in very low scores on them) I'm sure the rest of y'all have more pros and cons to add. Nick, what's the word on the Ga. Tech tournament? I've decided to go with our April date. An announcement will be coming within the week. One of my HS teammates was sort of at the front of the effort to get a team at Auburn. For sha...

Well, I know very little about college bowl, but I wass just wondering, what's the buzz (pardon the potential GT pun) about schools in GA, namely UGA, GA Tech, Emory, and Berry? I've played GA Tech, Emory, and Berry only in Division 2. GA Tech is a good team in the Division 2 ranks. We played them ...

I also have possible Woodward Academy date down as February 25, for metro Atlanta teams. Not sure if that's still the case or not. Hrm, the 4 or 5 Georgia coaches that registered for our original fall date said they didn't anticipate any conflicts on the 25th. Their date also isn't on the website, ...
