I'm interested in staffing* (seeing that staff constraints seem to be the main impediment to increasing field size), however, I need to know that I will not be out of pocket at the end of the weekend after my travel and food expenses. In other words, I need a concrete number, not a vague promise of ...

Did UNC, Carleton, and RIT not want a hosting autobid? The Carleton and RIT sites did not have autobids (as they were able to staff their tournaments without calling on active players). Re: A Modest Proposal Regarding D2 ICT Qualification
Agree. I remember looking at SCT results and feeling bad for BYU; it's not their fault that the Mountain West is a quizbowl desert. Alabama qualified for D1 despite finishing 45th on D-value, so BYU's 46th is scarcely less deserving.

I was planning on playing this with former NYU teammates at the NYU mirror, but I find recent developments disappointing and baffling. 1. It would seem to me there are plenty of teams between Boston and Philadelphia that would prefer a New York site, without "diluting" the field at UMD. Ev...

It's not uncommon practice to charge open teams higher fees than school teams already, so if this has this effect then I think it's fine. The buzzer penalty strikes me as weirdly onerous. There should be more than enough buzzers between NYU's and Columbia's, and penalizing free agents/people no longer in school for not having buzzers is a tad unfair.
