I'm sure Coach Egan did quite well at the Coaches' Challenge. I would like to see he and Riley go head-to-head... Riley was pretty awesome at the Coaches' two years ago. In fact, it would be great to have a mini-Scobol solo among the coaches -- at the least it would be highly entertaining

Well, down here in New Orleans... the 2005 NAQT ICT has been quite a reunion of past Illinoisians. I talked to Kelly Tourdot (Stillman Valley), Paul Gauthier (Wheaton North), and Max Parrish (Rockford Auburn) today. Yogesh Raut (IMSA) is here as well with Stanford, and was one of the leading scorers...

I think that if more former players were approached by coaches and tournament directors and asked to moderate, they probably would. I check t...

The best teams, not to beat a dead horse, but rather to emphasize this to its proper extent, are TEAMS. They are balanced, they get along well, everyone contributes, and everyone can pick up the slack if someone's having a bad round. In my high school experience, the hardest teams to beat (and the o...

Improving an existing team

I was wondering if anyone from those wonderfully successful programs out there could share some of the means by which they become and stay so successful. I'm trying to improve our team to the point where we're competitive on the level of some of the teams out here. We (Dartmouth) have had a program ...

A damn shame too. A lot of good teams get prevented from going downstate due to some stiff competition within their sectional, the kind of which downstate teams don't necessarily have to face. Another solution would be expanding the state tournament bracket to 12 or 16 teams and inviting wild cards ...

As far as future good teams go, I have to stand up for my alum, Rockford Guilford.
