Re: 2012 Natl. History Bee & Bowl Nationals - 4/28-29 in DC

Logistically, how will teams know where to go in the afternoon? Will there be some official way of telling each team where they are playing, or will you just need to figure out where to go from the schedule?

1. Whitman
2. RM A

We (Whitman) cleared the field by two so there was no final. We left just as Blair-A, Gonazaga, and WJ were playing off a three way tie for 3rd. Thanks to the GDS team for running an efficient and fun tournament.

So we showed up to this with a B team of new players for their first tournament. We were expecting a tournament around the quality of last year around Keegan level of difficulty maybe a little more ( obviously not great but O.K. for people who have been playing Quizbowl for 3-4 weeks). In the Egypt TU, I don't think the "Gene Sharp" clue is uniquely identifying. I remember his work being cited by Iranian opposition groups and in the Velvet revolution. Don't get me wrong, it is a great clue, but I think it needs a few words to identify it with Egypt.

Re: High school tournaments and timed rounds

The only thing that annoys me about timed tournaments such as HSNCT is sometimes not hearing questions near the end of a packet. I feel that finishing 1 minute early is less annoying than possibly missing 2-3 questions and bonuses. Does NAQT have the average number of tossups heard per game at HSNCT...

Depending on how many teams sign up, there will be either two or three levels of rebracketing in the afternoon (meaning either that teams ranked 1, 2, and 3 in their division in the morning will advance to the top bracket in the afternoon while teams ranked 4-6 would play in the lower bracket.
