This is the case in some other regions, but when a tournament is in Newark and two NJ teams leave early, that's bullshit. And this concerns you how, Kwartler? Two teams aren't allowed to agree not to play a game that matters to nobody except possibly the two of them? Or must we play for your benefit?

I was missing a single scoresheet from Round 11, the game between Delaware and Columbia, so that one round is missing, but stats are otherwise complete.

Let me kn...

PARFAIT 2: October 14, 2006
Princeton College Bowl is pleased to announce that PARFAIT 2 will be held Saturday, October 14th on the lovely Princeton campus. PARFAIT is an MACF academic tournament open to all teams affiliated with a college and other teams at my (almost certainly granted) discretion. This year's PARFAIT, unlike...

Actually, our team is a perfect example of Jerry's claim about the doubling of powers. We had 3 of the same people as last year, and the fourth from both years contributed about the same PPG. I think everybody on it had approximately twice as many powers as last year. Powers did seem to be noticeabl...

This year's SCT was the worst academic tournament I've been to since Penn Bowl 2004. My main complaint is that this year's SCT rewarded fraud knowledge to such a high degree; witness my ppg, which is significantly higher than it ought to be, especially considering that NAQT virtually excises any rea...

The earlier claim that there were no economics tossups at all is simply incorrect. I can cite from memory that there was a tossup on a Ronald Coase article (whose title I don't remember); I negged it. It did seem like there were too few economics questions and too few linguistics questions. However,...

I thoroughly enjoyed this year's ACF Regionals set. No set is perfect, and this was of course no exception, but it seemed to me that this is about as good as you can possibly make any tournament. I noticed no repeated answers and no more than ten or so questions that made me wonder what the writer w...

I guess I tried to make too general a point, and in doing so ended up with something completely wrong. I think you're right that questions about Salman Rushdie himself should be categorised as both Indian and British as you suggest, but surely a question about Midnight's Children would be considered...

Statistics have been posted at: http://www.princeton.edu/~cbowl/parfait2005/parfait_standings.html A few apparent anomalies to note: the top two teams played an extra game, namely the Finals. Brad, I'll respond to your comments out of order. 2. NAQT's preliminary brackets look a little skewed to a completely biased observer (Dan from Princeton), but they look especially bad when compared to ACF's preliminary brackets. ACF's took the top 2 from each of the 3 preliminary brackets, and one third-place team was taken. As it ended up, the numbe...

The scoresheet that was handed to me on Saturday appeared to say that Livingston A had defeated Smithtown A in their game. After 6 brackets completed 12- or 11-game Round Robins, the top 16 teams were picked by win-loss percentage, head-to-head matchces, and points per game. Points per game was used to break a circle of death. Then, a single-elimination tournament was played among the top 16 teams. Thomas Jefferson A de...

I feel like my team is being unfairly slighted in this thread. In light of the very much appreciated comment from jewtemplar, I've realized that when you have 12-team brackets, as we had planned, that implies an 11-round Round Robin (yeah.
