Re: Quinterest: Hassle-free Database Search

Just wondering, but what sets does this include? Does it just contain the questions found on quizbowldb and protobowl?

Thanks for making this! Searching was getting annoying with QBDB's issues going on.

I can't seem to get any results for searches, no matter what. Is there a way this could be fixed. I tried clicking the search button and trying again, but it doesn't seem to help.

Regarding practice sessions, I've found that protobowl sessions or scobowl sessions can be just as helpful as actual practices and sometimes even more so. You should definitely try it.

Re: Funding help?

I don't know if you have the experience to run one, but a tournament is probably one of the better ways to raise money. Maybe you can ask other high schools in the area to help out. We are planning to host a tournament that will hopefully pay for tournaments throughout the year. You should try it if...

Re: 1 month to get ready for Tryouts

I've always found note carding to be the best strategy. Try to find clues that come up multiple times especially, you'll find that they will continue to come up in whatever set you do for tryouts. You don't need to use notecards to become good at quiz bowl. That's just another form of rote memoriza...

I'm not sure if this works, but I have heard that the best way to learn art is to just stare at paintings until you notice things you haven't seen before. Generally art questions focus on these things. If that doesn't work, you can use the Quizbowl DB reader and click art to learn common clues (this...

Re: Buzzer systems

Personally, I find the zeecraft buzzers somewhat annoying. Generally, it is more difficult to buzz because the button is a lot larger than the Andersons and has to pushed down further. Also, the zeecraft buzzers don't usually have the light on the console for the reader, sometimes leading to confusi...

Thanks for all of your replies. Our principal has promised a stipend to any teacher who is willing to take the position. We are currently asking every teacher we know, and hopefully we will find our coach soon. It might be a problem considering the school year has already ended.

Georgia Coach?

Hi,

I am a member of the Alpharetta Quiz Bowl team. Currently, we are a completely student-run program, but we may be able to convince our principal to get funding to hire a quiz bowl coach. Do you guys have any suggestions for possible coaches near the Alpharetta Area?

Thanks.
