Re: Best Albums of 2016

So, my favorite already lost, but I'll carry on. Chicago Regional #1 Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper #6 Wildflower by The Avalanches - Neither of these albums sat super well with me. Coloring Book was really bright, but I don't think it was as good as Acid Rap, and I didn't have it in my top 25. ...

Re: Best Albums of 2015

After giving both a final listen before voting, I think I have to give my vote to Carrie and Lowell, the album I played the most this year as well as my gateway drug to Sufjan Stevens.

Re: Best Albums of 2015

To Pimp A Butterfly is far and away the best hip hop album of the year in my opinion in a year of pretty solid releases. Hamilton I'm switching on this one after actually listening to it. Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit I really like this album. Carrie and Lowell As much as I've...

Re: Best Albums of 2015

Malik: To Pimp a Butterfly - I love this album a little more every time I listen to it. AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP - Neither of these are in my top 5 hip hop all year. Or top 10 even. But Compton was more disappointing than anything, so I'm leaning A$ap. Summertime '06 - It's a little bloated in my opinion, ...

Re: Podcast Recommendations

I love those basketball podcasts. The Bill Simmons podcast is a fun sports podcast too, but it is less geared towards Xs and Os, plus he has celebrities and stuff on the podcast. I've been listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast since high school. It's one of my favorites of all time. If you'r...

Re: Your Lowest Point

1. The winter of 2013-2014 for Dorman quizbowl was one of great discontent. It was as if we had lost our spirit as a competitive team. Coming off a strong fall season, we were excited to get going for winter. However, we started suffering poor loss after poor loss at TI and Prison Bowl. The whole te...

Re: Flashcarding

At least for me, carding is the best way to learn titles. I use Mnemosyne on my computer for my cards, and I card everything I learn. However, science and history are best studied by actively reading material in those fields. Literature is the easiest to flashcard (titles, authors, characters) but o...

Re: Favorite Quizbowl Experiences

Something today reminded me of a good memory from high school, so I started wondering if this thread existed. Lo and behold it does! I hope you don't mind me sharing some of my favorite moments over my short career, especially since I'm only a freshman in college. At Dorman one of my teammates was C...

Re: ACF Fall South-central-east: University of Alabama 11/8/

I had a really good time at this tournament. However, I agree with everything Nick said. My major issue was just how long the tournament took. Wofford had to leave early because we needed to get home that night, but if we finished the whole tournament we wouldn't have gotten home until 4 am. It seem...

Re: What are the easiest categories to learn?

I was a history player in high school but since I've been in college I've been trying to generalize my knowledge, so I think I can give a pretty solid rundown. In my opinion, Literature is the easiest to become OK at quickly because you can maximize your title/author knowledge and then start buildin...
