Re: NASAT Science

This was the tossup on amyloid beta, which was certainly one of my harder answerlines: Are you kidding? There's no way this answerline comes close to ACF Regionals difficulty, and this choice of answerline robbed 90% of people with decent knowledge of Alzheimer's disease. This answerline was diffic...

Re: Specific Question Discussion

Could someone post the tossup on archery? I was curious about the first clue used before the description of Ekalavya in the second line.

Re: NSC 2016 Set Discussion

The set will be up on the packet archive in <24 hours, so this is the first and last question-posting request I'm taking. Glad you liked the tossup! Inspired by Aidan's and Rob's writing philosophies in previous NSCs, I wrote a number of tossups that approached important plot points and symbols fro...

Could I see the glomeruli tossup? It seemed fairly difficult.

Re: 2015-2016 BISB Specific Question Discussion

Online sources seem to confirm that the overall clue is unique for mothers in the context of the experiment; thanks for the clarification!

Re: 2015-2016 BISB Specific Question Discussion

Out of curiosity, is the attachment theory clue for the mothers TU in packet 14 unique to mothers and not children? The first clue invalidates children as an answer, but the Strange Situation experiment clues used don't seem to differentiate one from another. I'm aware that the set has been posted, ...

Re: IHSA 2016

There was some confusion over this when we played, but did the Markov chains bonus really just have "matrix" as one of its parts? Harrison said transition matrix given what the bonus part stated, but it was ultimately decided that "matrix" was the only acceptable answer.

Re: NASAT 2015 Specific Question Discussion

I apologize if this question was already answered, but is there a reason that the set hasn't been posted yet?

Re: Illinois '15 - '16

Likewise, Hinsdale's official history bowl team will avenge its loss against James Zhou, carried of course by Ankush Bajaj, a player with deep history knowledge. Sunny Chen will most likely stop studying quiz bowl to fully dedicate himself to TEAMS. This is actually untrue. Sunny and I are now dedi...

Re: Packet Study

Wikipedia isn't the worst resource to use in terms of supplementing what you glean from Quinterest and adding a bit more context to clues (assuming deeper levels of study aren't viable because of time crunches).

Re: Illinois '14-'15

I can't officially reserve rooms until Spring Quarter starts (beginning of April), but I've heard enough interest from people that I'm open to either running Midwest/Prison Bowl across a whole weekend, but would rather just run one of the tournaments on a Saturday unless I'm certain I can get enoug...

Re: IHSA 2015

The RWE essay clue in the firstline is almost as bad as the "Romanian sculptor" clue used to lead into a TU about Brancusi last year. It's good to see that the set has made such groundbreaking improvement.
