Is it worth considering maybe asking people to create a poll for a number of teams that is smaller than 25 (such as 20 or 15)? It seems like there are few enough college teams that attempting to accurately rank 23 versus 24, or 19 versus 21, can bog people down in writing their polls and produce fe...

I don't think merging divisions gives a much better schedule, but it does ensure that the games that do get played are more lopsided. I mean that happens at most every tournament in a nationally competitive state. Segregation by ability division might be a good thing to happen once or twice per yea...

Wireless buzzers are more hassle than they're worth, plus they cost a lot of money. I've said this before on the forums, but when it comes down to it, Andersons are essentially the best easily available system out there.

I think the MUT-style easy-plus tournament works best as a (chronologically) post-Nationals tournament, rather than as a March tournament. I feel like Whitney Young and what will eventually be IMSA B might be teams to watch out for by the end of the year. Both schools did quite well at our novice tournament and with a good amount of effort could finish up in the top 10.

Anderson brand buzzers are usually regarded as some of the best ones around. They're a bit smaller than the ones on Jeopardy but they hold together well, last a long time, and are relatively painless to set up and use.

You normally order them online.

It's like I said in my ballot: they're both excellent players, but they're both science-oriented generalists, so I expect some minor overlap. Maybe I underranked them at 11th, but it's the eternal problem of every preseason poll: nothing's actually happened yet.

I've found that telling jokes in a group helps. Laughing a lot right before a match gets you in a good mood and makes you more aware without tensing up.
