To close out this thread, I just wanted to mention that I am leaving Illinois this summer for California. Do 2 losses eliminate a team from playing on Monday? The teams in question were Poquoson and Luther Wright. I'm certain it doesn't; I'm extremely surprised that they forfeited. (snip) At any regional event where we have prior results to go off (which is to say, nearly all of them, at this point) teams are indeed seeded - matches are not just assigned at random. What was the format of the preliminary rounds? 52 teams, 5 rounds of...something, cut to top 32 elimination also seems quite archaic. Also if you're seeding by ppg strength of schedule becomes a lot more relevant than it does at PACE or HSNCT since there is much less contribution from bonuses. We p...

If at all possible, BHS should consider playing a national tournament that has a card system that helps sort out the teams in the manner you seem to desire for seeding, and double-elimination playoffs on Sunday. But I can see where a team that regularly exhibits better play in a regular quizbowl match (by way of more and earl...

Middle school. I was especially blown away that a long-time participant in my tourney revealed they can no longer provide a system because the one they have is unreliable and there's no money to get it fixed or replaced. And this is a suburban, public junior high school.
