The light in the middle was more than likely activated by the moderator... I can't tell you the number of times in practice I have accidently hit that timer button. As for the double light up, I have had this happen only 2 time, once in a match. But on other systems I have had this happen also..

I am planning on taking my team to UTC's tournaments (it's an hour up the road for me) and I am thinking about going to UG's tournament. I want to do at least one major travelling trip a year if we can, but as Lee said budget is tight

Addition to the post above, for the most part, mine don't get "burned out" as much as I have parents that get a bit burned out from dropping their kid off every Saturday and I had some that were getting bent only doing 1 time a month..

Number of Tournaments per year

I was wondering how many tournaments that your teams try to partcipate in during a given year. Right now if everything holds, I have my team going to ~14 over the span of the year.

I would also agree with that assessment of agressive play. This is one thing that I see in younger players is the "wait for it" attitude but I keep trying to tell them, you can't wait until you 100% sure or someone else will have already gotten the question.

I have a hard time understading the burned out arguement... if you really like the game, you would at least try to see what it would be like on the college level. I guess that is one of the reasons that I get my players to help me up at our local CC's quiz bowl tournaments, they get to see the other...

I do think that a question writer will default to the subjects that they know the best, hence the bias comes in. I know when I am writing questions that I really have to make myself stay to a particular setup or I will end up writing way two many science and history questions.

Scottsboro HS will be hosting one on September 23 it will be an A packet. I haven't worked out on the where but I will have it posted. Also, I am going to try to have a JV/Middle School NAQT State again next year..

I am going to see if we can get that started over at Scottsboro Junior High next year but I am not going to hold my breathe
If they were held in May we would have to leave during finals but I don't know if I would get the support from our HS principal for my group to leave

I truthfully don't think that anyone would defend the statement that just because a question is long then they are good questions. I do think that a rich clue set is a must with any good question though

We attended Snead State CC's tournament and we are planning on attending that one, UTC, and I think that Northeast Alabama Community College is holding one next year also.
Snead's had a bit of trouble due to the fact that a team was late and they waited on them UTC's usually runs well

Personally, out of all the ideas floated, I like the idea of the two date if the field has become so large as to start thinking of restricting the play of any school. While I don't relish the fact of playing against several teams from the ubber schools, I don't want to limit them playing.
