I can confirm that the Cyrano de Bergerac movie will get you first lines on TUs about the play 99% of the time. There's also the added bonus of it being a really great movie.

Not many faithful film adaptations exist, but those that do can be super helpful.

Now I had never done Quizbowl before and by preparing 'for the show' I was able to gain the foundation of QB knowledge and become an exponentially better player. Regardless of whether or not It's Academic really does make you worse at quizbowl (maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, I couldn't care less)...

It wouldn't have been worth it to try to kick them out but there was zero need to humor them so that they could make a joke out of the tournament/waste volunteers' time. No coaches/adults were present with the teams?

I would have flat-out refused to read. Might as well leave the score as 0-0.

I ran into a situation yesterday when one team buzzed and negged, and then when I cleared the buzzer I got an immediate buzz from the other side. I demanded an answer from them (and it was in the middle of the question, too) but the player and his teammates insisted that it was "accidental"...

Congrats to Marist for clearing the field! Maxwell's Demons and Brookwood came out of a playoff circle of death to finish second and third, respectively.

This tournament has received Platinum Certification from PACE! The top 25% of the field will qualify for the 2014 PACE NSC.

Also, there are still several spots remaining in the field with three weeks to go. Register while you still can!

Also, fear of negging seems somewhat unfounded since it's shown the best teams seem to have a somewhat higher neg amount.

Is it possible to do this at an earlier time? As someone who does the unfashionable thing of going to bed before 10 PM, I personally would like another time, but if everyone else can make it I don't have to participate. 11 PM is the just most convenient time for me, I'm going to be busy before that...

18 PPB isn't really mediocre at all. Of course you can definitely improve on that number and it's good that you and your teammates are dedicated to raising it, but you guys aren't in a bad spot at all.
