Re: Maryland Spring Tournament

At the moment we seem to be down one or two laptops given the extra registrations received this week and some last minute drops in our staff. Obviously we can print some rounds if we have to, but if any teams/coaches/generous hobos can bring a laptop and can let me know via post/email, we'd quite a...

Re: It's Academic discussion

I think it's worth considering the perspective of an outsider to the community, a school administrator, let's say. A pyramidal tournament is relatively expensive. There's next-to no exposure, even for a victorious team. There's no audience, there's not television time. For someone who doesn't care ...

Re: Maryland Spring Tournament

So, I haven't been able to talk to my coach yet, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't think B-CC will be able to bring a team, but I really want to participate in the tournament. I have no objections to coming and playing solo, if the organizers are okay with that, but I'm not particularly confide...

Re: Maryland Spring Tournament

Put B-CC down as interested. I can't make any definite commitments until I talk to my coach, but I'd very much like to bring at least one team. I'll do my best to figure it out one way or the other as soon as I can.

Unfortunately, some complications have arisen; I know for a fact that I won't be able to make it on the 14th. I'll float the idea to the rest of my team, but I don't think it's going to happen. My apologies, Mr. C, hope the tournament goes well.

Re: NHBB Discussion

As long as the fairness is maintained, the 4 quarters is fine to appeal to more teams. As a disclaimer, I wasn't able to participate in the NHBB. My question would be, how does one maintain fairness in a format where different teams hear different questions? I've played formats with four-quarter ro...

Re: Multiple Answers to a Tossup?

Yeah, if what you said was the lead-in, the question should have a note (accept ruler of A before X clue that differentiates him from ruler of B). Yeah, it was the lead-in, and that was what I thought should have happened. As far as the set goes, I think it was an HSAPQ set, but I'm not sure. It wa...

Multiple Answers to a Tossup?

Hello all, I was recently at a tournament where an issue came up with a history tossup (I'll try to be as general as possible, because I'm not sure whether the set is available for discussion, and I'd hate to cause that kind of problem). The question began something like this: "This ruler's rei...

I really hate having to make so many "B-CC won't be able to make it" posts, but given the distance, etc. it's just not in the cards... If I could get a ride from one of the DC/MD/VA area teams, I *might* be able to come and play as unaffiliated or help as a staffer, but it's not looking go...

The B-CC team would like to thank the entire community for their patience and understanding in this extraordinarily unfortunate situation. April 8th would be the best date for B-CC. Also, I think it's worth noting that, for the seniors who would want to attend, April 1st is when a lot of colleges release their admissions decisions, so a lot of people are going to want to be home, checking their computers/email.
