You know what's sad? I can hardly remember the original Double Dare or Guts because the Family/Global versions totally took over that part of my memory! What a shame... I'm pretty sure the originals were better. Also, I used to love Nick Arcade, but then I think they moved it to an early AM timeslot...

Wow, that is big news! I'm curious about the rationale for the change -- I can definitely see positives (for example, it might allow more teams to have a dedicated computational math player, more people being able to participate, etc.) but it is a big change. Of course, when I was first introduced t...

Hey Matt, I wonder if you might consider noting who wrote the packets that gave us these examples. I know you may not want to single out teams, especially those writing their first packets (like our C team, for example) and also that many packets may be attributed to several teams; even so, the crea...

Sorry Mike, I guess I wasn't clear in my original post, because I think we agree in principle. You could do it and I wonder if NAQT does internally, at least for official events. But similar questions doesn't mean similar rules (for unofficial events) or similar competition. Timed and untimed formats are quite different, and just using PPTUH or P/B doesn't cover the entire impact of that diff...

You can't force teams to play a format, especially if it's just so your numbers compute easier. Actually you can, like NAQT (rightly, IMHO) does for their college sectionals to qualify for nationals. This is the preliminary announcement for the second annual Classic City Classic, to be held October 13, 2007, at the University of Georgia in Athens. It's hard to say without knowing the exact tournament rules, but it seems to be fairly standard practice that the first answer clearly directed at the reader (prompted or not) is the team's answer.
