What teams will be undergrad-eligible? I'm pretty sure Billy said FSU would be, and we'll be... who else?

Re: CBI Regionals!
OK, Chris, I admit I shortchanged your post with my "summary". It was more of a general impression than anything, but I apologize for that. I did read your post, and you made some good points -- but a lot of it also seemed more angry than anything else. I intended to make the point that wh...

Re: CBI Regionals!
I made sure to get email addresses of all of the teams that did nothing but CBI so I can let them know about upcoming NAQT/ACF events, and they all seemed interested. This is a good thing that productively enlarges the circuit. CBI IS EVIL! ANGRY! SMASH! This isn't. For what it's worth, even if all...

I'm going to CBI just to spite UGA Haha, not sure I understand how that works, but since you brought it up... Since we beat y'all at ACF Fall, and you beat us at SCT... doesn't that make CBI the effective regular-season tiebreaker? I mean, kind of? Not to burst your bubble but at ACF Fall you lost ...

See, it seems to me like there are a lot less tournaments in the fall then in the spring. While that is not a good idea to significantly move ACF regionals, maybe something like Cardinal Classic, TIT, or who knows what might be better served moving up earlier in the year for say October or somethin...

Yeah, you could definitely play for the college. NAQT explicitly allows in at http://www.naqt.com/collegiate-eligibility.html (section C-6) and implicitly endorses it in FAQ #18 at http://www.naqt.com/eligibility-faq.html. I think it's certainly ethical, and based on those sources, it's also legal. ...

We won't be able to take a whole lot more teams, though, so if you're on the fence, please register soon to ensure a spot in the field. It looks like there is s...

Worth noting, though, is that reading all 24 tossups in a timed match is pretty rare. It's much more common to read in the 19-22 area, and I believe NAQT's standard is for readers in timed matches to average about 20 TUs/match. The untimed = 20 TU standard is based on equalizing timed and untimed ma...

Another improvement (again from talking to my wife) would be if NAQT (or ACF or whomever) created a website for entering and paying for tournaments. Division II, Community Colleges and the ICT
So I know this has been discussed before, but since it's been awhile, and since that's never stopped anyone anyway, I'd like to talk about something. I think Division II should have at least as many ICT bids as Division I -- a full 32. I don't think that 25% of the field should be reserved for commu...

Field Update/Varsity Registration Closed
I have more news regarding this tournament. First, our Varsity field is now closed . We will continue to take teams on a waiting list to replace any teams that drop (as someone always does). In Junior Varsity, we will be able to accommodate TWO more teams, as of right now. After that, we will again ...

I'm curious how the Southeast Div. 1 teams will shake out. Of the five teams in the upper bracket, Vandy (D1 winner) and UGA A (UG winner) should get in automatically. Of the other three, UF A and UTC have virtually the same bonus conversion, but finished 2 and 3 games (respectively) behind FSU, whi...

It seems a lot of the Seth/Ryan debate revolves around a different understanding of what the packet penalty is. Is it a punishment/incentive for the writer(s) (in which case, prorating the cost based on team size, at least to a point, makes sense), or is it a form of compensation to the editor(s) fo...

Well, writing a packet is almost always going to be something that is at least partially done for the good of the tournament and not economic interests. The time required to produce even 20/20 is almost never worth the $50 or probably even $150 you could stand to save on packet discounts. This assu...

Separate toss-ups and bonuses before starting the game. The two to three seconds you save by not flipping pages every time you go from one to the other can very easily add up to an additional tossup/bonus cycle you can fit in. Absolutely. And this works even in untimed matches, only instead of givi...

I think part of what limits hosting is that a lot of people really want to play Sectionals. Comments on this board notwithstanding, it's one of the major (and, IMHO, one of the better) events of the year, and skipping out on playing it isn't really attractive to a lot of people. Another thing is tha...

That being said, it still was not a great decision to limit discussion. It is not obscure that d1 and d2 packets share questions. An experienced program like Florida State should definitely be aware of this. I don't doubt that they were. Re: NAQT timing policy
Accepting as a premise that the clock is here to stay, here are some suggestions for making sure games don't end after 13 tossups: 1) There should be a rule requiring that all games go through tossup 18 regardless of when the clock goes off. That seems reasonable to me, even as a fan of timed match...

However, NAQT will be offering the DII Sectionals set to hosts that want to run end-of-year, regional, high school tournaments for nationals-caliber teams. Yeah, copy-paste would be a definite (and hopefully obvious) violation of the spirit and rules of packet submission. I don't know if it's the cause of the problems Jerry mentioned, but I think ToStrikeInfinitely has a good point.
