I have a critique of Kay's Rachmaninov 3rd concerto question that I think applies to lots of Quizbowl. It seems to me like a lot of problems with listing series of notes in a melody is that you still lack the rhythm component, and without that, it's hard to fill in the gaps of what the melody sounds...

Were the repeats also clue repeats? There's nothing wrong with asking about Iran (home of one of the world's oldest continuous civilizations) twice in a large tournament as long as both questions aren't about, say, Ayatollah Khomeini.

So does anybody here know of any registered teams? The NTAE website is not keeping up their end of the bargain about posting a list of registered teams in mid-May and I suspect that's because they don't have teams to list, but I would love to know if this tournament is in fact happening.

Greg Peterson liked to get in IRC and make unbelievable buzzes even though he was decidedly mediocre in person and everybody knew he was cheating and kept calling him out on it until he finally stopped. That's why Ike called him Cheaterson.

Honestly, even if you apologize, I think cheating intentionally at an actual tournament should be enough to get you permanently banned from quizbowl. Cheating RUINS the game - there is ABSOLUTELY NO POINT in playing ANYTHING if you're going to be up against somebody who has already seen the question...
