Re: Cavalier Classic @ UVA, 10/29/11 (BDAT mirror)

Fred, I see your point about random seeding, and agree with you. I was going with the hypothetical idea that we didn't know the relative strength of the teams heading in, so we would place them randomly. Obviously, we all have a pretty good idea that Thomas Jefferson, Dorman, and Maggie Walker are g...

Re: Apply for one of 12 $250 Grants for Your Quizbowl Team!

Dave, Thanks for doing this. I wish we could have applied, but all grant applications in our district have to be approved by our school board before we can apply (silly bureaucratic rule, but it is the rule nonetheless) and the short lead time did not give us the opportunity to apply due the timing ...

Re: Fall Novice @ St. Anselm's Abbey School (10/22/11)

Regarding the 4 pools of 7 giving teams 6 games in 7 rounds, you could play cross-bracket games that don't count in the standings during the AM rounds, just so teams don't have byes. Additionally, be wary of your bracketing in this setup, as a team will have to win its prelim pool to be eligible for...

I'm a supporter of the free market, and I think it is fine that someone else wants in on the question market.
