It's nice to see a couple KY teams (Dunbar and Manual) ranked highly. One thing I like seeing from this poll is the fact that a lot of teams from a lot of different areas of the country are fielding strong, nationally competitve teams. This season should be fun to watch.

A whole lot of KAAC mathcomp questions have to do with things like trig ratios, derivatives, matrices, integrals, and systems of equations. Things that most people will never use in their everyday lives. The idea that mathcomp is needed because it's practical is way off-base, but becomes even weaker...

I know Danville had some pretty strong young players last year, so I expect they'll be good next year as long as those players stick with it. As someone who has played Quick Recall that uses Chip-like questions for 7 years, I will not deny that it is fun to play. But whenever it gets down to it, playing NAQT or PACE questions gives you a sense of accomplishment with answering a question, especially with a power, and to me that's more fun....

As long as your careful with looking for inaccuracies, Wikipedia is about as good a source of Social Studies knowledge that I have ever used. Also, read textbooks (college if you can get them) and lots of primary sources.
