I also think NAQT should make it harder to qualify for HSNCT, but I think it should be based on the quality of the field at a tournament and the quality of teams in the region in which the tournament is held, rather than the set the tournament uses. You can also look up team and player results here: http://hdwhite.org/qb/stats/. This will search the hsquizbowl database for a team's results which may be better than searching for tournaments.

I would say, that if you know what comes up, you can read the poems online. You'll find a bunch of results if you just google the poem. To know what comes up, reading packets and studying frequency lists would be a good idea.

I would say Prison Bowl, LIST, and GSAC are annually very good. LIST is probably the easiest of the three, prison bowl the hardest. 2013 BHSAT was a fantastic regular difficulty set, but I wouldn't recommend 2012 (I don't know about other years). Sparknotes or something similar to spark notes. I did it before MSNCT last year. I would suggest actually reading poems and short stories though. Don't waste time sparknoting novels that are commonly read-Lord of the Flies, Fahrenheit 451, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc. will probably be powered by some...

I don't get how you find that time. I generally study 2-3 hours a week when I'm not off from school. During break I try to amp it up as much as possible (10+ hours minimum).

It might be worth mentioning that the field for HSNCT is "full" when you count reservations for state championship qualifiers, and the waitlist already has 26 teams.

HSNCT is fun. :chip: is "funn". We aren't going to HSNCT because it would be too logistically difficult at this point (quite a bit of red tape) and it's our club's first year, so we don't quite know exactly what we're doing.

They are regular players. Also, people don't listen to the coach (he's new to quiz bowl) that much, and they listen to me less. It's pretty much a free-for-all when it comes to making decisions.

The only sort of "theme music" I remember is Ernie playing "Imma Bee" between matches, so it was slightly better than the questions (although much worse than the ones he plagiarizes-it's always a bad sign when those are the best questions).
