Re: DACQ Weekend of Quizbowl Goodness: BYO Dagger (3/15/08) @GMU

Hi, I'm Ian from Ward Melville, and I'm pretty sure we're not going to be there. The person that was going to go from our team (he was unable to get the rest of us into it, some had Science Olympiad) ended up having Model UN, and we probably will not be able to get team and money together in time an...

Re: BHSAT XVII (3/29/08) at Yale (New Haven, CT)

Is it just me or is this field extremely strong for just a regular season tournament? In attendance are planned to be 7 of Byko's top 50, and among them 3 of the top 25. Is there any hope of it being a re-bracketed round robin for the final rounds as opposed to a single-elimination playoffs? I'm not...

Re: Productive discussion about expanding to new schools

Does anybody know if UC San Diego currently has a quizbowl program? I'm trying to decide between there and Pittsburgh as my #2 choice (behind UCLA), and if UCSD has quizbowl that would pretty much make my decision for me.

Neither of those is correct.

By product rule:
1*e^2x + x*2xe^2x = e^2x+x^2e^2x

I'd like to register a team of students from my school, but we would not be officially going under the school name. I tried talking to him, but he wrote me off by saying that this is what has worked. He may just claim this because our school won Long Island Challenge (a show like It's Academic!) a few years back, and this was the method he used to choose the teams.

The way our school chooses the teams is extremely screwed up. For the first 6 weeks (we meet once each week), we have rooms of 8 people all competing against one another, right answers worth 2 points, wrong -1 EVEN AFTER THE QUESTION IS FINISHED . Not only that, but we use Great Auk questions for al...
