Re: National Academic Competition Association
I agree with Patrick, I don't think it's smart to limit this to the United States. I can't say I have any good ideas for a name though. Continental Academic Competition Association? Who wouldn't want to win the CACA award? http://www.google.com/imgres?q=Facepalm&hl=en&safe=off&gbv=2&...

About this: do you mean that the finals questions will have harder answerlines, or that the clues in the questions will be harder?bt_green_warbler wrote:Discussion about whether or not this is a good idea can be found here.SoHo wrote: with the last two rounds being harder in difficulty. Re: Preseason Predictions Thread
I think Dees coming back to Columbia (as a student-I don't think he took classes last year) could result in Mizzou moving up into the top 25.

Sorry about that, Max. I was going from a list Charlie gave me. Although it does look like the 31st is your best bet if you want to run LIST II before Easter.

Re: Buying Quizbowl Books Really Cheap!!!!
I'd say any works by Nietzche (The Antichrist, Beyond Good and Evil, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, etc.) and probably some stuff by Spinoza.
Also A People's History of the United States would be good (it's gotten me US History points), and in the same vein A Patriot's History of the United States.

Re: Interest Check: St. Charles Open 2011?
Does anybody know of a set out there that we could use as a side event to kill some time after this tournament? After all, there are reportedly only 9 packets to work with for Moon Pie. You guys can play on my VETO packet if you want. There might also be another decent VETO packet available. We've ...

Re: MUT 2011 (Non-Specific) Discussion
Just remembered another one- the "Secret Six" clue for the Harper's Ferry Raid. It seemed a little too early for me, but I guess that's because I've studied the Civil War in depth.

Re: MUT 2011 (Non-Specific) Discussion
It went dead in our finals, but that's mostly because we were all high schoolers who don't care about English rulers. I wouldn't feel too bad. I'm a history major, and I would not have gotten that tossup in this life. But maybe that's because middle ages history has never been my strong suit. On th...
