Re: Minnesota Undergrad Tournament discussion

Is Camille Claudel really leadin material? I don't mean her works. I mean, the fact that she was involved with Rodin. It certainly didn't seem to be quizbowl-famous when I wrote the question, as her name appeared in exactly one packet in my archive, and her relationship with Rodin wasn't mentioned....

With a caveat I'll get to, I like the idea of someone doing copy-editing only (much easier if said person hasn't seen the questions before and isn't tempted to breeze through them), but certainly the night before at the latest. Well, "fortunately" Vanderbilt football doesn't exactly inspire die-hard fanhood, so we always like Saturday events much better. For me personally, it doesn't matter much, but all the undergrads prefer to have Sunday to do work and don't want to get home late on Sunday. There are definitel...

I think it's great that we're giving recognition and trophies to achieving UG and Div II teams. But, I have a slight fear that this may cause a very small number of teams to think about shifting their membership to win these other titles. In general, unless otherwise impractical, writing substantive clues in your bonus leadin is a hallmark of good quizbowl. Too often at MCMNT, the format was something like this: "Name stuff about an author, for 10 points each." This was often compounded in awkwardness by having a work by t...

You would have better luck in terms of traffic going in and out of BWI, as we did for TIT. Of course, you'd need to rent a car, but the flights to BWI are quite cheap on AirTran. If you have any questions about car rental and travel in and out of BWI I can email you with the details of what we did....

I'd say I agree with most of the above thoughts. Stanford, Illinois, and Vanderbilt are the other contenders for top 3 spots. While it would be pretty sweet if this were true, we're kind of manic depressive when it comes to NAQT. We can beat a bad team by 100 and a good team by 400 [edit: that means we can also lose to a good team by 300]. A lot ...
