A side idea kind of relevant to this would be creating a room in which users can submit their own questions (with their intended difficulty, subject, etc.) and others can playtest them and provide feedback.

You can find information about Andersons here . The second one (hand-held buzzers) are personally my favourite, and a case is $15 extra. One thing I think this really needs is some sort of room ownership or admin power because I have difficulties with people being disruptive in my private school channel and as (1) they don't have to identify themselves through the username and (2) I can't shut them out unless the ban mechanism trigg...

The field for SWAG has now been expanded to thirty (30) teams. Any A-, B-, or C-teams on the waitlist have been added to the field, though D-, E-, and F-teams shall remain on the waitlist until 5 January, 2013, or two weeks prior to SWAG I.

The field for SWAG I is now full, although we are planning to expand the field to thirty (30) teams. Teams on the waitlist shall be prioritized alphabetically; that is, any A-teams will be taken before any B-teams, and so on.

I think that the problem with the "read a book" strategy is that literature has such a large canon. Poetry and short stories are very easy to read and digest quickly, and some significant and common novels and plays (those on NAQT's You Gotta Know, etc.) are very useful to read firsthand, ...

I definitely agree with the commitment > talent argument. One of our A-team players hasn't attended practice for a couple of weeks because of college apps and whatnot, and there's been a definite decline in his playing skills, and a definite increase in that of the rest of the team.

I really enjoyed the set this time, and Ben was a great director that made everything run smoothly. The field was pretty competitive, and I enjoyed many close matches. Of course, the winner of the neg award was expected.

This is a notice that tournament fees have been changed slightly, namely:
  • Early registration discount raised to $10 per team from $5 per team
  • Staff member discount raised to $15 per team from $10 per team

From my experience, fees have been around $70 to $80 for the each team with a $10 discount for each additional team, though novice tournaments are generally cheaper at $50 to $60 per team. Buzzers and moderators generally give a $5 to $10 discount, and distance discounts range from $5 for every fift...

The new UI is interesting. I haven't tried multiplayer mode yet, but the bright blues are a little distracting. I think the "advanced search" function is missing, and a very minor issue is that you can't click the links at the bottom until a query has been searched.

For Shinto myth, I came across this online translation of the Kojiki, but I'm finding it difficult to read because all of the names are translated as well ("His-Swift-Impetuous-Male-Augustness," etc.). Are there better print translations or secondary source compilations?
