Re: Yoda-Style Questions
This is the kind of nonsense we lost when AHAN stopped being regularly available. AHAN, much like COVID-19, has been consistently available since March 2020! Anyway, in addition to the obvious concerns about gimmickiness and readability/parseability, another reason you're unlikely to see lots of th...

When the deadline states "by Saturday," does that mean the packet needs to be in by 12:01 AM Saturday or just any time that day? I would love to have more time of the weekend to work on the packet if needed. Seconded--traditional deadlines tend to be more along the lines of "11:59 Su...

I'd like to propose that set owners or head editors ask the admins to make their forums public as soon as a set is clear. I think this makes a lot of sense and I'm not sure why I didn't think of it before. Just sending a second email to hsquizbowl@gmail.com when the set is clear will alert the admi...

Re: 2022 SCT general discussion
The literature in this edition of SCT felt extremely West-focused. Of the ten D2 packets that we heard, there were zero tossups on any Asian (i.e. Japanese, Chinese, Indian) or Latin American lit. By my count, the only lit tossups that weren't European or U.S. were the ones on South Africa , wine ,...

Re: 2022 SCT general discussion
I was discussing this with a teammate, but I don't remember hearing a single question (tossup or bonus) on jazz in the entire first 10 DI packets. We also found there to be a dearth of film/art film content. One thing that did stick out was the (what felt like at least 5/5) video game questions. Wh...

For Minnesota, I'd like to shout-out former Chaska coach Chris Lenius. He was involved with our quiz bowl program for almost three straight decades (1990-2018) and he's the main reason Chaska was so successful in the '90s and 2000s.
