Re: Why are there different difficulties?
The way I see it, a universal difficulty isn't practical because most teams around the nation (outside maybe the top 50-100) play quiz bowl for the sole reason that it's fun. Sure, the tournament standings would be the same with a universal difficulty, but the game itself won't be nearly as enjoyabl...

Re: Where Will You Be Going to College Next Year? 2012-13
I'm headed to USC next year and I haven't seen their team playing in any tournaments recently, but I'd like to at least get a taste of college quizbowl. I know Thomas Gaddy from Blair is also going there so hopefully we could get something going. As far as I know, the USC quiz bowl team is dead (th...

Apparently the RAF is attending Arcadia Carnal Embrace on 3/23, so I'll tell you how it goes if they come Did they? We ere scheduled to play them at NHBB but they didn't come. Also, is it possible that more middle school questions can be used? While I think it would be neat for Protobowl to have more middle school questions, I'm not sure it's possible. I want to comment on a previous point made in this thread: I personally enjoyed the first buzz at the opening ceremony. It was gimmicky, but I thought it was an entertaining way to end the presentation. I also didn't mind watching the coach awards; while I had no vested interest in these awards, you...

Re: NHBB Nationals Discussion Thread
I just want to chime in and say that the online schedule/score system at NHBB Nationals last weekend was the best idea I've ever seen implemented at any quiz bowl tournament (from a player's perspective). I really hope to see more national tournaments using this sort of system in the future. That be...

Arcadia intends to register. However, in abidance with Arcadia tradition, we probably won't have the logistical capabilities to provide a definite team estimate until the week before the actual tournament. At this point, it looks like we'll have 5-7 teams.

Further, weaker teams* may irrationally prefer four-quarter with worksheet/lightning because it inflates their score to something like 50-350 instead of 0-300. *not all of them, I mean Personally, I don't see any problems with this motivation. I'm going to Amherst College next year. I'm not sure if they actually have a legit quiz bowl team (though Amherst did recently attend the last NAQT SCT Region 1). Hopefully they do, because I'm looking forward to playing college quiz bowl.

Yep, I did enjoy the tournament. I don't think I've ever been able to fit 13 rounds into a single day before-- it was lots of fun (even those last 2 gut-wrenching rounds against Escobar).

On the stats, we found a possible error in Arcadia A's game against Arcadia B. The score in the stats is recorded as 365-180; however, on our own scoresheet, we recorded the score as 425-180.

After using Quizbowl DB for a while, I've noticed two prominent bugs:
1. I can't scroll down a page when there are 8 results.
2. There is no "prev" button on a page if there are only 2 pages of results.
I'm using the latest version of Google Chrome on Mac OS X.

One more thing: when you set Protobowl to only display a certain category of questions (e.g. "history"), it doesn't read questions automatically. I have to keep pressing the "Next" button to see the next question. I'm not sure if this is intentional.
