Re: Proposition: Get Rid of Trash

But what I HATE are trash clues in academic tossups. I'm looking at you, NAQT. Our current policy is to discourage these; I don't believe they are present in significant numbers. (cf. this thread wherein I re-read all of IS #76 and found a total of two such clues.) To me it felt like there were qui...

Re: Proposition: Get Rid of Trash

I like the trash in most distributions. It's a nice little changeup. But what I HATE are trash clues in academic tossups. I'm looking at you, NAQT. I really like the ACF distribution for Trash. The Elimination of trash is a bad idea, imo, but the reduction of trash clues and the sheer amount of tras...

Re: Math As We Move Forward

I think that guaranteeing 1/1 non-comp. math in addition to whatever other sciences are present per high school round is both possible and reasonable. And making science 5/5 as opposed to 4/4 for the other major categories? That seems unfair. Or do you mean guaranteeing 1/1 math within the 4/4 scie...

Re: Affording Long-Distance Travel Tournaments

South Range has the same problem, Jasper. So far, we've thought of a few fund raising ideas. 1) Host tournaments. I know Solon hosts their annual two-day tournament, but I think it might be worth it to host another one. Maybe on HSAPQ questions? 2) Candy Sales. I actually got this idea from B...

Re: 2009 HS Preseason Poll Results - Congrats, Maggie Walker!

I noticed a wide fluctuation in LASAs ratings, from 3 down to much lower. I don't know that much about them... can someone fill me in? They placed 11th at the HSNCT, apparently with a pretty young team that's returning everyone. And now I know who voted for us (although when I saw that Jarret sent ...

Oh, I definitely know the power of mid-atlantic region, but I'm just wondering how it evolved to the point where it is right now. We split people up into teams assuming enough people show up to do that. Honestly, the apathetic players thing is beginning to bother me, because I technically can't make them do anything, and I don't have the authority to kick them off the team. Is there anything I can do as a fellow player? When ...

No real shockers, but I was a little surprised to see GDS at #6. Matt's awesome, but I'm not sure who they really return to fill Ian's spot. Their B team struggled at the NSC. I had them at #10, personally. I think Hunter's ranking is perfectly justified. In a year that will see a lot of team's copi...
