Re: It's Academic discussion

I just wanted to say that a quiz bowl show may not be a bad thing even if it is run on a "bad" quiz bowl set. Before the Comcast challenge ended here it appears far more Delaware teams were involved in good quiz bowl as well. Now, it's just us. The shows may help to motivate schools to enc...

Re: Middle School to High School transition

I've been trying to start up a quizbowl club at my old school since last summer, but the first two teachers that I approached are leaving the school. I'm now trying to do it from the bottom up, to get a group of students interested and then have them search for a coach. I met Paritosh when I visite...

Middle School to High School transition

In our region, we run a very successful MS tourney with many middle schoolers coming out to compete. But I have noticed that most of them drop playing quiz bowl once they enter high school. The result is that we are the only high school that is really competitive in our state and many middle schoole...

Re: The Role of a Moderator

As far as the whole #CashCrew thing goes it wasn't really to "fly under the radar". As long as the name wasn't that of our school then the administration would be fine. We had always thought of the idea of playing as something twitter themed and after it was allowed at MIT (names later cha...

I take blame (I guess?) as the person who came up with name #CashCrew. I don't see anything wrong with the name...we have played under pseudonyms at other tournaments (#Moenation, Subanation, etc.) and have worked hard at these tournaments to do well and our A and B team here did nothing wrong. For the record, this is against NAQT rules*, and it could be interpreted as against HSAPQ's** (and I guess ACF's). * Section K.1 ** Section B.1 Since there are rules in place against this, you can be assured the members of our C team at this tournament will be dealt with severely (they probably won...

Hi. It appears our match against West Egg is wrong. The final score according to our sheets was 570 to 100 not 360 to 100 and our ppb was definitely not 13.12 in that match. Just wanted to point that out. Not sure why that mistake is there.
