A different thing I feel should be commented on with these questions, along with some questions in most any set, is that they don't immediately say what the answer is. I think it should just be a rule that a tossup should begin with "This ..." or "Characters in this... include" ...

Is 1:1:1 distribution of visual arts, music, and other arts a common practice nowadays? I guess it's a matter of personal preference, but I really don't think other arts (I'm guessing things like classical movie, photography, and jazz) should have the same distribution as more traditional art mediums.

I enjoyed the questions very much. There were tons of interesting early clues that were new to the high school canon, and it definitely sparked my desire to learn more and get better. This tournament was the best part of my Chicago experience. I feel like I re-discovered the joy of getting tossups, which NAQT tends to take away. It was definitely worth getting scolded by my coach/almost getting suspended from the playoffs for not coming back until 1.

What annoys me with abbreviations is not so much that it obfuscates the meaning as that it makes the post too lighthearted/informal. It's altogether up to debate whether such lack of seriousness is a bad thing, but I think there is a certain level of professionalism one can ask.

I have serious doubts about the effectiveness of AI ranking and (in particular) the HSNCT results as predictors for the performance in this particular tournament. NAQT and PACE are different monsters.
