Re: The ultra-big VHSL results thread

I too thought the difficulty level fluctuated a lot. Overall, I thought that most of these questions were more difficult than the 07 and 06 state questions we had been practicing on. I am quite happy that we won a match, even if we did not go very far into the tournament. Congratulations to Radford,...

Re: Salisbury Hippocampus Super Bowl (4/19/08) @ Salisbury NC HS

We are in the same situation as Cave Spring. We are planning on going to NAQT States 4/19/08 @ UVA. I thought there was some discussion about moving NAQT States to 4/12, but I am not sure if I am making that up. We will likely register if the weekend opens up for us.

Re: The ultra-big VHSL results thread

Is anyone going to make predictions for Saturday's State tournament? I am excited to take my team, and I am hopeful that we have a respectable showing. The Byko Ratings say we're heavy underdogs, but I don't think many of the teams at the A state are well-connected to the greater quizbowl world (in ...

So, are the automatic qualification standards the same for 2008 NSC as they were for the 2007 NSC? If so, then I understand that Auburn (VA) can claim automatic qualification for one team by virtue of qualifying for the VHSL State Tournament. I am pretty excited about the prospect of attending. This...

I am not from UVA... but NAQT's website has the tournament listed as IS-70 for 2/23, but last we heard from Yangsta is that this was not finalized. NAQT.com lists the tournament as IS-74... which makes no sense, since that is the DACQ Weeknd of Quizbowl Sunday Tournament set.

While the quadratic example seems ugly, you are told that there is only one solution, so a really good math player will know that it is a perfect square trinomial. This can help you solve the problem quickly in a few different ways. The one root will be x=-b/2a, or you can divide everything by 2 and...

Team Supervision/Coaching with multiple teams at a tourney

Coaches... So, out of curiosity mostly, for coaches of those schools that send 2-7 teams to each tournament. What level of supervision/coaching do you provide for multiple teams. Do you always have an adult that follows each team? If so, who serves in that capacity? (Are they assistant coaches, pare...
