Some more incredibly logical reasoning from noted expert Charlie Dees. Even though you didn't take the time to really discuss my points at all, I'm going to take some time to make myself clear anyway. Geography and Current Events are academic topics, they aren't junk! Fair enough. My point was that ...

Yeah this set was really really good, and really really accessible. I have to say that Dees has been greatly exaggerating the quality of this tournament. It was in fact "really really accessible" but not "really really good." I'll start with the difficulty. First of all, this cl...

Re: Georgia Tech HSNCT Warm-up: April 16, 2011

How is this not fair? The fact that neither the 5th- nor the 6th-place team got to play the 4th-place team for a spot in the top bracket is far from optimal. At the same time, that's almost impossible to control (especially considering the difficulty of estimating Kunal's strength playing solo) so ...

Re: 2011 PACE NSC Tournament Format

This thread has certainly gone places since my last post. Let me just clarify what I was saying: I'm not advocating getting rid of rebracketed formats. I don't think there's any superior alternative to rebracketing, and I've used rebracketing at all 3 high school tournaments that I've TDed. I realiz...

Also, did you even take a look at last year's preliminary standings? I was there. Re: 2011 PACE NSC Tournament Format

So here's my concern: it's bad enough to be relegated to at best 17th place after 7 games. Being relegated to at best 25th after only 5 games? This requires near-perfect bracketing, which, based on the statistics from previous years, PACE (or really any other organization) just really isn't capable ...
