I'll pass it around. Us and Robinson are usually the only teams that travel that far. We're also still waiting to hear when (and if) Duke will hold the Celebrity Shoot mirror, which is often around that time.

The Brain Game taping schedule has been released. If you're interested in playing, contact the producer at braingame AT nc.rr.com. There is only one season this year, with only 4 fall taping dates, and playoffs in the spring.

I would second what Andrew said, but carry the textbook idea further: reading textbooks is not worth your time. Maybe you could gain something by looking through the glossary and picking up some vocab. Textbooks really don't contain a lot of the juicy QB information, though. You need something that ...

The Bonfire of the Humanities will use an as yet unassigned HSAPQ set for the tournament on Nov. 14. If you are concerned about the level of difficulty at last year's tournament, this should not be a problem. We will have entirely new problems this year, I promise.

They haven't finalized the taping schedule (as of this earlier this week) yet, but will send out the requests as soon as they do. I suspect it will be easier to get a date as there will likely be the same number of teams applying for more opportunities.

Word is there will only be one year-long season of Brain Game this year on WRAL. This means 24 matches instead of 18, with the playoffs in the spring. Budget cuts. I would assume that math calculation also includes specific subject area math calculation like stoichiometry, calculating the velocity of an object falling from height y, etc.? I see no argument that these are justified because you have to know some chemistry or physics to be able to perform them.

I do not have a dog in the question format hunt, so I applaud whatever changes the PACE staff feel are necessary to keep producing the high quality packets they do. I am glad to see the bracketing system from this year brought forward.

Greensboro Day had plans to go to PACE but ended up not being able to. They are very good this year, but have always had a solid program. I'm glad they represented well.

Apparently Cave Spring won both the V and JV sides of the Western NC Shootout this past weekend. From Bob Powers' facebook pix it looks like JV beat Freedom and V beat Greensboro Day in the finals.
