The basic cycle for getting good at a knowledge based activity is, yeah, assemble information -> remember information. Your method, assuming you've found it successful so far, should continue to be effective. Make sure you also read books as part of the "assemble information" step.

This happened yesterday. We played a 10 team RR and split 4/3/3 for the playoffs. Oxford A and B went into the top bracket with 1 loss each, while Cambridge A and B made it with 2 losses each. I really enjoyed this set. It hit the difficulty target right on the nose and strikes me as a very good model of what regular should look like if the goal of easing it up marginally is carried forward.
