From what I understand he started going for the neg prize in the second half of the match, and would buzz in after about 3-4 words on every question. Ask Jerry, I think he was playing in that round. Well usually not 3-4 words, most of the time he waited long enough (anywhere from 1st to 3rd line) t...

Reading 8, 9, even 10 line tossups was a bit wearing on the reader's end. I really thought a good number of them could've taken off the first 2-3 lines and would have been just as pyramidal. Difficulty was a bit variable, but generally just under what I would say ACF Regs difficulty would be. Overa...

I now have more info on the tournament. We'll indeed have PACE affiliation, so the top 4 teams will qualify for the NSC at GMU assuming we get near the field cap. As long as we have at least 18 teams, we'll have 6 prelim rounds of real time Swiss pairing using MIT's laptop system. If we have 16 or l...

Due to problems with the scheduling office, this has been moved to Sunday, February 17th (if this is particularly bad for anyone, let me know). I've made note of the MLW - UMD B game on the stats page, and have listed the finishing order of the second playoff bracket teams by Win-Loss record then total bonus conversion for the day. So that should pretty much finalize things:

Re: Matt Cvijanovich Memorial Novice Tournament: 3/8 at UIUC
There is a $30 fee for any team that registers but then cancels or fails to show for non-emergency reasons without notifying me via email 2 days in advance. Good luck with that. I've collected such fees before, though usually from teams being canceled from a school that's still coming with a lower ...

One thing to add: It's probably not a good idea to charge for food at the tournament. It's pretty much assumed that the entry fee covers a basic offering of breakfast. Charging for lunch isn't really a big deal, in fact it's a nice option to have, but breakfast should be free. Wow I just slept for ...
