Alpharetta JV (10/30/10)--Fall Novice Mirror

Post by AlphaQuizBowler »

All JV Academic Teams are invited to the second annual Alpharetta JV Tournament, to be held at Alpharetta High School on October 30, 2010. Players must be in tenth grade or below to be eligible; middle school teams are welcome. Registration will be in the cafeteria from 8:15-8:45. Lunch will be available for order.

This tournament will use the Fall Novice question set, which is being written by current high school and college players and will be played at various sites throughout the country. The questions will be similar in length and difficulty to last year's Fall Novice, which can be found here. The match format will be 20 tossups with 20 three-part bonuses.

Registration costs:
$55 per team
-$5 for each buzzer system (maximum 1 per team)

If you have any questions, you can contact me at [email protected].

William,

Please go ahead and reserve 2 spots for Chattahoochee. We will try to bring a 3rd team like last year, but I can't commit to that yet. Also, we can bring 2 buzzer systems (maybe even a 3rd if you really need it). Thanks!

Also, a reminder: although the form is what we need for the official count, please also let me know by email when you send it.

I heard the top 4 were:
1. Dorman
2. Norcross A
3. Chattahoochee A
4. Walton A
I don't know if this is 100% accurate, though. I am sure William will be posting results soon. Nice work Alpharetta folks!

Here are the final results of the tournament (playoff record in parentheses):
1. Dorman A (6-0*)
2. Norcross A (5-1*)
3. Chattahoochee A (5-1*)
4. Walton A (4-2*)
5. North Gwinett (3-2)
5. Westminster HS (3-2)
7. Northview A (2-3)
7. Westminster MS A (2-3)
9. Marist A (1-4)
9. Webb Bridge A (1-4)
11. South Forsyth (0-5)
11. Webb Bridge B (0-5)

* The top 4 teams played crossover games between brackets, so they have one more game played.

I would also like to congratulate Mostafa (Norcross A), Davis (South Forsyth), Annabel (Westminster MS A), and Raghav (Northview A), the top 4 scorers. It is impressive that, for the second year in a row, a middle schooler has received one of the individual medals at our tournament.

Prelim and playoff statistics can be found here.
