Richard Montgomery High School would like to announce that we are hosting our Fall Novice Tournament on Saturday, December 16, 2017. The tournament will be mirroring SCOP Novice 8. (more information can be found here viewtopic.php?f=109&t=20030).

Address
250 Richard Montgomery Drive, Rockville, MD 20852

Eligibility
The eligibility requirements for this tournament are as follows:
1) All freshmen and sophomores are eligible to play in this tournament.
2) Any junior in their first year of Quizbowl is eligible to play.
3) Any player attending their first ever tournament is eligible to play.
4) If you have any specific eligibility concerns or questions, please email [email protected].

We also ask that teams carry no more than six players on any single team. Teams planning to bring more than six players should register a second team.

Tournament Fees
The fee structure is as follows:
Base fee per team: $60
Each additional team from a school: $50
Buzzer discount: -$5
Reader discount: -$10
Travel discount: -$10 per 100 miles, one-way (via Google Maps)
Minimum fee per team: $40

Registration
Registration will begin at 8:15 AM, with matches starting at about 9:00 AM.

Checks should be made out to “Richard Montgomery High School” with “It’s Academic” as the memo line. They may be mailed in advance to 250 Richard Montgomery Drive, Rockville, MD 20852, with Wendy Sparks in the attention line. Please remember to put the name, as we've had checks lost in the mail because they lacked a named recipient. Payment must be received before or on the day of the tournament.

Please send registrations to [email protected] - in the email, be sure to clearly indicate the number of teams, buzzers, and moderators you plan to bring. Please also include a phone number and email address where we can contact you on the day of the tournament. Remember that forum posts do not constitute a registration.

We will most likely be capping the field at 24 teams. Teams that register after that cap has been filled will be placed on a wait list. Expansion may be possible.
The field has just been expanded to 30 and we will have a middle school division.
Update! The field is now expanding to 36, the HS field remains open to 24 teams.

Food
Breakfast will be on us! An assortment of breakfast food will be provided.
For lunch, Pizza will be sold by the pie.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to send them to us at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you on December 16th!
