***UPDATE***
The Viking Academic Tournament will be held on December 9th at Fort Walton Beach High School in Fort Walton Beach Florida. We will be using the WHAQ II question set. Details of the set can be found here:http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... 09&t=20041
Format will be round-robin, with a re-bracketed round robin in the afternoon. All teams will play a minimum of 8 matches. We will be using the PACE ruleset - with the exception that there will be no bounce-back bonuses and powers are worth 15 not 20. Teams should consist no more of 6 players (4 active and 2 substitutions). There is no minimum team size.
Currently the tournament is capped at 18 total teams, but can be expanded if teams are able to provide additional readers and functioning lockout buzzer systems. Also, there will be an initial limit of three teams from the same school. All additional teams will be waitlisted. Expect us to lift the waitlist around the 24th of November.
Registration will begin at 0800 with an officials meeting at 0830. A rule review meeting will be held with all teams at 0845 with play to start at 0900. There will be an hour to an hour and a half break for lunch with all tournament activities to include award presentation being completed no later than 6pm.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams and medals will be given out to the top 4 individual performers in the preliminary round robin matches. There will also be an award for the “Most Impressive Display of Buzzer Aggressiveness” for the individual with the most -5s during the preliminary rounds.
***We have received Gold Certification from PACE. Teams that finish in the Top 20% will qualify for the PACE NSC held June 2nd - 3rd in Washington D.C..***
Fee Structure for the Tournament:
