Ladue Invitational Spring Tournament (LIST) VII (04/07/18)
Posted: Tue Oct 03, 2017 11:08 pm
Hello everyone,
The Ladue Academic Team is pleased to announce that we will be hosting that the seventh annual Ladue Invitational Spring Tournament (LIST) on Saturday, April 7, 2018. We hope to attract many teams from across the state and perhaps some out-of-state teams as well. In consistency with previous years, we intend to qualify the top teams for a bid to the 2018 PACE National Scholastic Championship, which will be held on June 2nd and 3rd at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Washington, DC.
As the MSHSAA District tournaments occur one week after, and competition on the national level begins just a few weeks later, this is a perfect opportunity to tune-up ahead of time, and is also one of the last contests before the conclusion of the regular quizbowl season. So, if you want to get in one more fantastic tournament, go ahead and sign up!
For questions, we will be mirroring FACTS, a housewritten, high-quality, high school regular-plus difficulty set written by Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and The Charter School of Wilmington, the details of which can be found here.
Tournament Rules
• 20 tossups and bonuses per game
• no computational math
• 15 point powers
• -5 point negs
• NO bouncebacks on bonuses.
Format
•24-team field with the possibility that this might expand
•Bracketed round robin prelims
•Re-bracketed round robin playoffs
•four-team superplayoffs and final if needed
Entry Fees:
First team from a school: $70
Second, third, etc teams from the same school: $65
Buzzer discount*: $5 per system
Staff discount*: $5 per staff member.
*Buzzers and staff are on an as-needed, first-come, first-serve basis. When registering, please detail how many staff and/or buzzers you may be able to bring. As the tournament approaches, we will let you know whether they are needed or not.
Any payment mailed in advance should be addressed to Jonah Krueger, 1201 S. Warson, St. Louis, MO 63124, though it is also fine to pay on the day of the tournament. Please make all checks out to "LHWHS Attn: Jonah Krueger".
We are setting a tentative field cap of 24 teams. There is no maximum to the number of teams each school may bring. We will likely be able to expand if there is enough interest, but until that point, we will accept teams on a first-come, first-serve basis. If our field fills, we will be able to guarantee every team in attendance at least 8 games, if not more. Fields can fill fast, so sign up soon to reserve your slot! To register, please send an email to [email protected].
If you have any questions, or wish to register, please email [email protected]. We hope to see you here at Ladue on April 7!
