Phillips Academy Academic Team is happy to announce that we will be hosting Massachusetts State Championships this year on Saturday, April 7th.

REGISTRATION
All high schools are invited to register, ranging in experience from Super Sunday, High School Quiz Show, or just trying quiz bowl for the first time.
Our current field cap is 24 teams. To register your team, you must fill out this GOOGLE FORM.

If there are any issues or additional pieces of information, email Eric at [email protected]; he will get back to you as quickly as possible.

LOGISTICS
MASC will take place on the Phillips Academy Andover Campus (180 Main Street, Andover, Mass). We will run check-in from 8:15 to 8:45 AM outside of Kemper Auditorium (located on Chapel Street) before convening for a brief opening meeting. We would like to begin game-play around 9:00 AM in Morse Hall. The tournament should end around 5 PM. Teams will play a minimum of ten games, should we reach our field cap.

FORMAT
We will be playing according to standard NAQT rules with untimed halves and no computational math tossups.

LUNCH OPTIONS
We will be selling pizza at a lower price of $12 per large, 3-topping pizza (and 4 waters)! Order through the same survey link HERE. There are also a few restaurants within walking distance, including UBurger and Sauce.

THE SET
MA State Championships will be using the Division II SCT set this year, which will better prepare teams looking to play at HSNCT and similar difficulty tournaments.

NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS
The top 15% of the field (rounded up) will be qualified for HSNCT and with Platinum certification the top 25% of the field will qualify for PACE.

FEES
The fees for this tournament are as follows:

$80 per team
$60 per new team ($20 discount)(i.e. from a school that has not played in an NAQT tournament in the past year)
$50 per new team from High School Quiz Show ($30 discount)
−$5 discount per working buzzer system
−$15 per 100 miles travelled (one-way)
−$15 discount per staffer provided

Cash and checks are acceptable forms of payment. Please make all checks out to “Phillips Academy Academic Team”

We hope to see you there!

Are teams from outside of MA eligible?

Yes, teams outside of MA are eligible, as MA geographic exclusivity only means that this same packet cannot be used in MA. Just don't play sectionals in some other state :P

What better way to prepare for State Championships than to come to the States Prep Invitational Tournament (SPIT) I. SPIT I will be held @ Boston Latin School on March 24 as a mirror of GSAC XXV. Join veteran and newer teams in beautiful, bustling Boston, MA to see how you're doing right before the state championships. Not so familiar with pyramidal quiz bowl? You can learn or refresh your memory by competing in the new to pyramidal division during prelims.

Find the forum post here: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... it#p341994 and the set post here: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... xv#p341200.

Hoping to see you all,
