1st Annual Sean Moore Memorial Quiz Bowl Tournament, Millersville PA (CAST Mirror) - 2/9/19

Penn Manor High School is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Sean Moore Memorial Quiz Bowl Tournament to be on February 9th, 2019.

For Sean:
The tournament is dedicated to our late teammate Sean Moore, who passed away of a suicide last August. We hope this tournament can serve as a reminder of the mental health issues that still trouble our community and society as a whole.

Set:
This tournament will mirror the Collaborative Academic Spring Tournament (CAST) set, a regular difficulty high school set. More information on the set can be found here: http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic. ... 09&t=21421.

Field Size:
There is an initial field cap of 30 teams. We may expand beyond that if there is enough demand and we are able to do so.

Registration and Fees:
Base fee: $80 for your first team, $70 for additional teams
Buzzer discount: -$5
Staffer discount: -$10 (subject to approval)
New to quiz bowl teams: Any team who did not play a pyramidal Saturday invitational tournament last school year will have a flat fee of $50 per team.
The minimum fee per team is $50.

Payment:
Teams can pay in the form in cash or check made out to “Penn Manor Quiz Bowl”, preferably the morning of the tournament. If you would like or need an invoice, please contact me specifically in regards to that.

Location:
The tournament will be held at Penn Manor High School, which is located at 100 E Cottage Ave, Millersville, PA 17551. Teams may park in the large section of the lot near the administration building, and should enter the school at the overhang labeled “Central Complex.”

Schedule:
Registration will begin inside Central Complex at 8am and all teams should arrive at 8:30am at the latest. There will be opening announcements at 8:45am, and we hope to begin Round 1 as close to 9am as possible. The exact format will be determined by the final field size, but in any case, teams will be placed in preliminary brackets for morning rounds and then reseeded into playoff and consolation brackets in the afternoon. We aim to get each team at least 10 games and finish between 4 and 5 pm.

Food:
We will be offering pizza orders on site that can ordered during registration the morning of the tournament. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase as well. Exact details will be communicated at a later date.

Teams are free to leave during the lunch break to eat out if they’d like.
