Huskie Bowl @ NIU (February 9, 2019)

Hello all,

I am pleased to announce that Northern Illinois University will be hosting our annual Huskie Bowl tournament on February 9, 2019. I, Jeremy Knoll, will serve as tournament director, and the tournament will be mirroring Yale’s BHSAT XVIII. More information on the set can be found here.

Building and parking information will be made available closer to the tournament date.

Registration
To register for this event, please contact me at [email protected] with your team name, number of teams that you are bringing, and buzzer/staffer counts.

Fees and payment
The fee structure for the tournament is:
$70 base fee for first team
$60 base fee for subsequent teams
-$10 per approved staffer provided; (TD must approve all staffers; please indicate whether staffers can bring laptops.)
The minimum fee per team is $50.

Schools must bring one functioning buzzer set for every two teams that they bring to the tournament. Bringing a spare set is encouraged and appreciated, but unnecessary.

Teams that cannot afford the entry fee are encouraged to contact me to discuss possible further discounts.

Checks shall be made payable to “NIU Quiz Bowl Association” and may be brought the day of or mailed in advance to the following address:

If a payment cannot be made in advance or on the day of the tournament per district requirements/regulations, please let me know. Invoices and/or receipts will be provided per request.

Additional information
There is an initial field cap of 18 teams. This will hopefully be expanded upon securing additional staffers. We will be providing breakfast and lunch to all staffers. If you are interested in reading for this event, please let me know, as we’d be very happy to have you.

I have heard this tournament has been cancelled. Can we get a confirmation one way or the other, with either a field update, or a post confirming it was cancelled?

As someone who was asked to staff Huskie Bowl, I was told by Jeremy quite a while ago that Huskie Bowl would be canceled. Were coaches not informed?

I know that the Loyola Ultima, originally scheduled for tomorrow (1/19), has been postponed to Feb 9th.
