Winter High School Invitational at Plymouth (WHIP)

Date: February 9, 2019

Field Cap: 18 teams (soft cap based on available staffers)-Any and all high school quiz bowl teams and levels are invited to attend this event.

Cost: 75 dollars for first team
60 dollars for each additional team
5 dollar discount for teams traveling more than 100 miles (one-way)
5 dollar discount for buzzers
10 dollar discount for experienced staffer

Minimum cost: 55 dollars per team

Location: Plymouth Regional High School
86 Old Ward Bridge Road
Plymouth, NH 03264

Parking will be in the front of the building. We will have student volunteers escort teams to the cafeteria. The opening meeting will be in the cafeteria at 8:30 A.M.

Staffers meeting: 8:45 in room 132.

All matches will begin at 9:00 A.M. and will take place in the north wing of the building. We hope to finish by 5 P.M.

Lunch will be at approximately 12:15-1:00 P.M.

Teams can order pizzas (with 4 bottles of water) for 15 dollars each. There are fast-food restaurants within a mile of the school for teams that elect not to get pizzas.


We will be applying PACE certification for this event.

We are awaiting PACE certification for this event. The previous event was gold certified so we are hoping for the same this time around.

We are closing in on two weeks from the event and are hoping to fill out the field, but I haven't heard from many of our close competitors. Let me know, if you plan on coming!

We are now making final arrangements for staffing for this event. If you plan to join us, please let us know ASAP. Teams that have already signed up should expect an e-mail early next week with more details and an invoice. Any changes for teams already signed up, please let us know. We are looking forward to seeing you on the 9th!

WHIP has concluded and we would like to thank all the teams that attended as well as to thank the Glasgow, KY group that created the Scottie set. It was a well-written set that was fun to play. Lexington dominated the event, going 10-0 and defeated Plymouth (NH) A in the finals match by a score of 465-245. This is a team that no doubt will be a contender for the HSNCT National Championship this spring. Plymouth A and AMSA A also went 8-2 on the day, capping off solid days for both teams. Rhys Harris (Plymouth), Charles Yang (Lexington), David Arena (Lexington), and Christopher Walsh (AMSA) finished first-fourth respectively in individual scoring. Stats can be found here:
