Harvard on the Bigbee Classic I, Fulton, MS 1/26/19

Tournament: Harvard on the Bigbee Classic I @ Itawamba AHS, Fulton, MS

Date: January 26th (backup date in case of bad weather is March 2nd)

Director: Chris Johnson, [email protected]

Question Set: HBCI, our first Itawamba in-house written set. These questions are pyramidal and around a standard invitational difficulty.

Format/Rules: 20 total tossups with bonuses. 10 questions per half. Substitutions at half. Teams can only have 6 players per team. Powers/negs will be used.

Tournament: We will currently accept the first 24 teams. There is no JV or MS division, but any team is eligible to register. The questions are most appropriate for high school teams but an experienced JV or MS team could compete on the questions.

Cost: $65 but a 2nd/3rd team from a school will be $50 each. We will offer a $5 buzzer discount and a $10 distance discount (more than 100 miles from tournament one way) for all teams up to $15 per school. There is a $50 minimum for a team, however.

Lunch: We will once again sell pizza and drinks at lunch for $5.

Schedule: We will open registration at 8:00 and plan to start game play at 9. We will play 4-5 games before lunch around 12:00. At lunch, we will then organize teams according to abilities and play 3-4 games. We will do our best to gurantee everyone 7-8 games. Trophies will be given to the top 3 teams in addition to individual recognition to the top 6 individual scholars.

Congratulations to West Lauderdale for their win. In 2nd place was Tupelo Christian Prep while 3rd place was Caledonia. Meridian, Kossuth, and Booneville finished out the top 6. Our Lady of Perpetual Help was the top middle school team with IAC coming in 2nd among MS teams.
