Darien High School will be hosting Darien Invitational IV on Saturday, March 30, 2019 on NAQT’s IS-184A set.
The tournament is aimed to last from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with registration taking place from 8:15 to 8:45 am.

80$ for the first team
70$ for each subsequent team
-5$ per working buzzer system
-10$ per experienced moderator
-10$ for schools new to pyramidal quiz bowl
-10$ for schools travelling 100 miles or more to Darien High School

This tournament has a soft field cap of 24 teams, however if there’s demand we may expand.
As there are no lunch options close to the school, for lunch there will be full pizzas available at 15$ each. (Please indicate how many you would like on the form above). Drinks will also be available for purchase. There will be free bagels for breakfast.
The tournament will be held at Darien High School, 80 High School Lane, Darien, CT. Coming from Nutmeg Lane, turn left, and enter at the entrance marked “Library”. Coming from High School Lane or Noroton Avenue, turn right around the loop until you pass the flagpole and turn right until you see the entrance marked “Library”. Parking will be available around the entrance.
The tournament will use the following rules: each game will consist of two halves of 10 tossups and bonuses each, a negative 5 will be given for the first incorrect answer during the reading of the question, there will be 15-point powers for answering early in the question, there will be no bouncebacks on the bonuses, and there will be 5 second timing for everything instance of answering after the question or buzzing. A team is limited to 6 players, with a maximum of 4 playing at one time, substitutions may be made at the half or during time outs.
