Hej! The Wesleyan University Quizbowl club is excited to announce that we are hosting the 2019 edition of the NAQT Connecticut State Championship on Saturday, May 11th, 2019, using the NAQT DII SCT-19 question set. NOTE: this tournament is strictly open only to schools located in the state of Connecticut. Special thanks to the Connecticut Quiz Bowl Alliance for reaching out to us and helping with logistics and such. Due to limitations regarding staff, we are currently issuing a soft field cap at 12 teams, however we do have space to expand if there is enough interest/buzzers/staff to do so.

Registration and Fees:
First team: $80
Each subsequent team: $75
Buzzer discount: -$5
Staffer discount: -$10
Minimum charge per team: $60

Rules:
The tournament will operate using NAQT rules, with the following exceptions:
Rounds will be untimed and will consist of twenty tossups and twenty bonuses.
There will be no computational math bonuses or tossups.
We will be using ACF timing rules for answering: (available here at https://acf-quizbowl.com/official-gameplay-rules/) 5 seconds for answering tossups and bonuses, as well as 5 seconds before a tossup goes dead after being read, etc.

Logistics:

Location:
The tournament will be held in the Public Affairs Center at Wesleyan University, located at 238 Church Street, 06459, Middletown, CT. The building's main entrance is on its east side, facing Judd Hall.

Check In:
Check in will begin at 8:00 AM, and will close at 8:45 AM. The first match will begin at 9:00 AM.

Parking:
Visitor parking is available for free at several university lots close to the PAC, which can be found at this link: https://map.wesleyan.edu/#/layer/visitor-parking. Although most lots are available unconditionally to visitors on weekends, please pay attentions to the sign outside each lot, as there are exceptions.

Directions via Public Transit:
Public transit options to campus are, sadly, limited. There are two buses which connect Downtown Middletown (a 10-15 minute walk from campus) to the rest of Connecticut; the M-Link runs from Middletown to Meriden, where it connects to the Hartford Line running between New Haven and Springfield, MA. The CTransit 55 runs to Hartford, where it connects with the Hartford Line, as well as any number of intercity bus routes. Unfortunately, there is no M-Link bus that arrives before registration closes, but a 7:30 AM 55 will arrive from Hartford in time.

Lunch:
Pizza might possibly be up for purchase during lunch for teams, we will hammer this out as we get closer to the date of the tournament. Teams are free to eat at Usdan Student Center, as it is actually quite good.

Hi all, we are less than a week out from the tournament, but we have only one team signed up. If we have less than 4 teams signed up by Thursday night, we'll have to cancel. Please consider signing up for this tournament, it should be really good nats prep!
