Washington Fall Classic - 10/24/09 - Univ. of Washington

[Bentley Like Beckham]

The Quizbowl Team at University of Washington is pleased to announce the first ever Washington Fall Classic high school tournament on Saturday October 24th, 2009. We'll be using NAQT's IS-87A for this tournament.

Registration is from 8:30-9:00 AM in Denny Hall at University of Washington in Seattle.

Fees will be $30 for the first team and $20 for each additional team from a school. In the event that any team has a quizbowl buzzer system they're able to bring, we'd greatly encourage that.

We plan on giving teams somewhere between 7 and 10 guaranteed rounds to play, depending on the number of teams that sign up.

7 high school teams came out to compete in the first high school quizbowl tournament that the Quizbowl Team at UW has hosted. Bellevue ended up sealing their victory over Lakeside in an exciting final match of the playoffs that came down to the last question.

In order to not have unnecessary byes, an exhibition team consisting of newish UW students served as the 8th team and hopefully provided inspiration for the teams they beat throughout the day.

Thanks to all the teams that showed up and the outside people who helped staff, specifically Chris Grubb, Ken Jennings and Steven and Ken Diamond.

We're looking to probably host another high school tournament in January or February, so stay tuned for that.
