NHBB & Robert Jackson Center Partnership in NY and PA

Post by Great Bustard »

The National History Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce a new outreach initiative for teams in Western New York and Northwest Pennsylvania. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Robert Jackson Center in Jamestown, NY, our Western New York History Bee and Bowl (NHBB C Set at Nichols School in Buffalo on Dec. 13) and our Rochester Area History Bee and Bowl (NHBB B Set at Victor Sr. High School in Victor, NY on Feb. 7) are entirely free of charge for teams in the History Bowl and students in the History Bee. The US Geography Olympiad and US History Bee National Qualifying Exams are still $10 per student, but these are optional during the lunch break, and are not the major focus of the tournament.
Both the Robert Jackson Center, which honors the legacy of Supreme Court Justice and Nuremberg Trials Prosecutor Robert Jackson, and NHBB will be reaching out to academic teams and history teachers in Western New York and Northwest Pennsylvania. Specifically from NHBB's side, we'll be emailing every history teacher within a two hour drive of these events, and sending an information packet with a flyer on the program to every area academic team.
It's our hope that not only will this partnership help spark greater participation in New York and Pennsylvania NHBB and quiz bowl tournaments, but also serve as a model for additional partnerships of this sort in areas that traditionally we have not seen a high degree of participation in. NHBB will ensure that these tournaments are well run and we are happy to promote other quiz bowl tournaments at these events as well. If you are running a tournament in the area, please contact me for further details.
