The Darien Quiz Bowl Team is pleased to announce that DEFT (Darien's Excellent Fall Tournament) will be available for mirrors next season after October 1st. The set will be regular to regular-minus difficulty, a little easier than an IS set, and designed to have accessible answer lines for new teams. Michael Borecki will be head editing the set; I will also be editing, and Harris Bunker from Michigan State has volunteered to look it over for grammar and difficulty issues. Writers for the set will be members and alumni of the Darien High School team as well as Sharath Narayan (James Clemens) and Sohum Shenoy (Wilmington Charter).

DEFT will consist of 14 rounds, including 2 finals rounds, that might be power marked (TBD). The mirror fee is $10/team. A sample packet or half-packet for the set will be posted on August 1st. If you would like to mirror the set, or if you have any questions, please email [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!

A couple notes about the set:
-Tossups will be 5-6 lines of 12-point Times New Roman, though we'll probably shrink the size to 10 or 11-point in the final version of the set
-The two finals packets will probably be around flat regular difficulty (a bit harder than the rest of the set), but the set still has 12 packets of pure regular-minus material
-The material will lean more curricular than normal
-We plan on play-testing the set during the month of September to catch any potential issues
