Carolina MS Science Bowl Jan 24-25, 2014 (NSB qualifier)

I am pleased to announce North and South Carolina’s regional National Science Bowl qualifier. The event features a model car competition and a science quiz-bowl-like format academic competition. The event will follow national competition rules. The winning team of the academic competition will qualify for an all-expense paid trip to the national competition in Washington, DC, April 24 – 28, 2014.

Regional Event Information:
Date: January 24th and 25th, 2014. On Friday, January 24 the competition will start at 1:00 PM and will end at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, January 25 the competition will start at 8:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM.
Competition Location: University of North Carolina-Charlotte, 9201 University City Blvd, Charlotte, NC, 28223
Eligibility: North Carolina or South Carolina middle school team consisting of 5 teams (4 players at a time, 1 alternate)
Maximum Number of Teams per School: 3
Registration Fee: $100 per team
Team Approval Process: Teams are approved on a first-come, first-served basis with first teams taking precedence over second teams, and second teams taking precedence over third teams, with the goal of having as many different schools participating as possible. Eligible first teams will be approved by the regional coordinator to participate as soon as possible after registering. Beginning 5 weeks prior to the regional event and space permitting, eligible second teams will be approved by the regional coordinator to participate. Beginning 3 weeks prior to the regional event and space permitting, eligible third teams will be approved by the regional coordinator to participate.
