Gladiator Fall Tournament, 11-14-15 [MS-15; Elm Grove, WI]
Dear coaches, players, and interested bystanders:
St. Mary's Visitation is happy to invite you to our fifth annual fall open, Gladiator Fall Tournament 2015, to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 in picturesque Elm Grove, WI. This is an open junior high (up to grade 8) quiz bowl tournament to be played on NAQT'S MS-15 question set. As such, it is a qualifier for MSNCT 2016.
Teams should expect about 8 rounds of pyramidal tossups and three-part bonuses played according to NAQT rules (with the exception that rounds will be untimed and consist of two ten-tossup halves with bonuses). This means that teams will be allowed four players at a time (plus substitutes) and bonuses will not bounce back.
The entry fee remains $65 per team, with a $10 discount for each buzzer system you bring and a $10 discount for your 2nd and subsequent team.
Please arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 AM. A brief rules meeting will take place at 8:30, and play will begin at 8:45. We will take a lunch break around 11:30 AM, during which you can go out to one of our neighborhood restaurants -- there are a few within walking distance and dozens within a 10 minute drive -- or bring your own lunch and eat in our cafeteria.
This is the same question set being played on October 7 at St. Viator, so if you play there, you can't play here, though we do hope to see you in the spring.
SMV is easy to reach from I-94, 15 minutes from downtown Milwaukee and 90 minutes from the Chicago Loop. To reserve a spot (or spots), please email at mfalk at stmaryeg dot org. I am preliminarily capping registration at 16 teams, though if there is clamor for more spots, I will try to accommodate.

Hi all,
Full stats and placement will follow tonight. In short:
Station B (8-1) defeated Station A (8-1) in a tiebreaker match to win the whole thing.
SMV Gold (7-2) defeated Quest Black (7-2) in a tiebreaker to take 3rd.
Cooper Roh (Keith) was the leading scorer, with some astronomical triple-digit PPG.

Re: Gladiator Fall Tournament, 11-14-15 [MS-15; Elm Grove, W
Greetings, all:
The fifth annual Gladiator Fall Tournament took place today at St. Mary's Visitation. We used the MS-15 packet set.
We divided teams into two divisions of eight teams each, Hydrogen and Helium. The top two teams from each bracket (with ties broken by points scored) went to the Packers division; the next two to the Bears division; the next two to the Vikings division; and the last two to the Lions division.
Teams then played the remaining two teams in their division (with the game versus the team they'd already played also counting for the playoffs), and whoever cleared the bracket won it.
In the Packers bracket, Station A (7-0 prelim; 2-1 playoff) and Station B (7-0 prelim; 2-1 playoff) tied, and played a full game tiebreaker, which was won by Station B, 340-150, to clinch the tournament championship.
Also in Packers, SMV Gold (6-1 prelim; 1-2 playoff) and Quest Red (6-1 prelim; 1-2 playoff) tied, and played a full game tiebreaker, which was won by SMV Gold, to clinch third place. (The scoresheet for that game has been misplaced.)
Among the teams in the Bears bracket, Station C took 5th (3-0 playoff); Bayside Maroon took 6th (2-1 playoff); Keith Blue took 7th (1-2 playoff); and Keith Red took 8th (0-3 playoff).
In the Vikings bracket, Keith Black took 9th (3-0 playoff); SMV Blue took 10th (2-1 playoff); Station D took 11th (1-2 playoff); and Bayside White took 12th (0-3 playoff).
Finally, in the Lions bracket, Quest Black took 13th (3-0 playoff); SMV Black took 14th (2-1 playoff); Station E took 15th (1-2 playoff); and SMV White took 16th (0-3 playoff).
The leading individual scorers (in the preliminary 7 games; minimum 3.5 games played):
1. Cooper Roh, Keith Blue: 113.57 ppg
2. Abraham Holtermann, Station A: 76.36 ppg
3. Michael Chmiel, Station B: 75.00 ppg
4. Bryce Vist, Station B: 68.18 ppg
5. Cooper Folkerts, Keith Red: 65.71 ppg
6. Keegan Mihm, SMV Gold: 55.71 ppg
7. Nick Zehner, Quest Red: 55.71 ppg
8. Liam Starnes, Station A: 50.83 ppg
9. Jacob Levine, Quest Red: 50.00 ppg
10. John Magnor, SMV Blue: 44.55 ppg
(We did not award prizes to Max McQuide on SMV Blue [80 ppg] or Tim Swietlik on SMV Gold [65 ppg] because they only played in the afternoon and so, respectively, only played one and two preliminary games.)
Thanks to the coaches and players who come to our tournaments! Thanks also to our many volunteers, many of whom are SMV Quiz Bowl alumni: Emma Kaczynski, Paul Kaczynski, Molly Carrig, Neil McLinden, Nora Berens, Donny Parey, Nicky Ragonese, Aidan Parks, James Kearney, Allen Witkowski, and Kevin Eberle; my intrepid, organized, and loyal statistician Beth Parey; and my co-coaches, Kylie Daemmrich and Burke Seeberg, without whom this wouldn't be possible.
See you in the spring for the sixth annual Gladiator Open!

Thank you for the compliment!
SQBS output:
Rounds 1-7 only: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... s/prelims/
Rounds 1-9: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... _playoffs/
I just sent in a correction to NAQT's tournament stats which Jonah linked above; I had misspelled a player name.
